Eligibility for Admission to B.Ed Degree Program

St. Mark’s College of Education offers a two-year B.Ed. program, spread across four semesters, designed to prepare aspiring educators for professional teaching. The eligibility criteria for admission are as follows:

The B.Ed. program is a two-academic-year course, structured into four semesters.


Academic Eligibility

Candidates who have completed a degree under the 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern of education in the specified disciplines from a recognized university are eligible to apply. The disciplines include:

  • Tamil (B.A. / B.Lit.)

Percentage Requirement

Candidates must meet the following minimum percentage criteria in their undergraduate degree:

  • OC (Open Category): 50%
  • BC/BCM (Backward Classes/Backward Class Muslim): 45%
  • MBC/DNC (Most Backward Classes/Denotified Communities): 43%
  • SC/SCA/ST (Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Caste Arunthathiyar/Scheduled Tribes): 40%

Additional Requirements for Commerce Candidates

Candidates applying for Pedagogy of Commerce and Accountancy must have studied the subject at both the undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) levels to be eligible.
